journaling & reflection motivation time management

What does an average life look like?

This diagram represents an average person's life with a life expectancy of 80 years. Each one of these circles represents one month of their life.

The average person sleeps 8 hours a day, totaling 320 months, making up 33.3% of their life.

They spend around 1 hour and 50 minutes every day to eat and take care of their health, totaling 73.33 months, making up 7.6% of their life.

They spend 2 hours every day on cooking, housework, and other errands, totaling 80 months, making up 8.33% of their life.

They go to school for 8 hours a day from ages 4 to 21, 180 days a year, totaling 36 months, spending 3.75% of their life at school. They also work 8 hours a day from the ages 21-64, 260 days in a year, totaling 122.5 months, making up about 12.76% of their life.

They drive for about 100 minutes every day from age 17 to 78, totaling 51 months, making up 5.3% of their life.

This leaves 278 months or about 29% of their life to freely and fully express themselves in any way they choose.

From these remaining months, they spend about 5 hours on leisure every day, totaling 200 months, making up 21% of their life and using up 72% of the remaining time. This leaves only 78 months or 6.5 years to make something truly unique of their life.

Questions

 1. How many months have you already used up?

2. How many healthy months do you realistically have left?

3. How do you want to use the remainder of your time?
