Of all the subjects you dedicate your life to studying, ensure you are one of them. While it may not change the world, it will change your world.

A wise man by the name of Jim Rohn once said, “If you want to be successful, study success. If you want to be wealthy, study wealth. If you want to be happy, study happiness.”

I want to add to that list: “If you want to be fulfilled, study yourself.” While you may feel a sense of passion and purpose through others’ lives, for it to truly enrich and guide your own, you must discover them for yourself.

As I don’t expect a person who didn’t study health to lead a healthy life, I don’t expect someone who didn’t study themselves to lead a meaningful one.

While many seek to build a life around who they think they are, few take the time to get to truly know themselves. Every now and again, it is worth taking the time to ponder, “How authentic does my life feel to who I really am?”

No matter where you go in life, knowing yourself is the first step. Sit with your questions. Allow yourself to struggle with the confusion and uncertainty. Give your self-exploration the attention, time, and respect it deserves.
