How many ways can you see the world?

I've always been fascinated by the potential of a single blank piece of paper. In the hands of a writer, it could become a heartfelt story that inspires people to see their lives differently. In the hands of an architect, it could become the design for a building that makes people stop on their way to work to admire its beauty and magnificence. In the hands of a teacher, it could become a curriculum that educates and empowers the next generation to make their own contribution to the world.
As I've deepened my understanding of myself, I've only realized how limited my relationship with the world is. An old mentor used to tell me, "Believing the world is limited doesn't limit the world, it only limits your perception of the world. Don't mistake the limits of your perception with the limits of the world." Since then, I've learned to appreciate the smaller relationships I share with even the simplest things in my life.
I used to use my journals as a place to store random ideas and events. I saw them as trash bins for the erratic thoughts in my mind. I filled them with disorganized scribbles to help me think more clearly. The few good ideas I had always got lost in the pages of bad ideas. However, if you read my journals today, it wouldn't take you long to realize that they hold my most treasured ideas that challenge me to make the most of my life. I have made them into one of the most valuable books in my library that I reread the most often, not only to reminisce and review what I learned in the past, but to relearn how it applies to my life today.
As we get older, it's easy to begin asking what something is, not what it can be used for. We begin to understand the world through one perspective and fail to see the possibilities of what it could be. Your creativity and imagination could be your greatest asset if you allowed yourself to see it that way. It can breathe a new life into your education, your work, your relationships, and even your play. If you feel that your daily routines are getting stale, take this letter as a sign to imagine a more exciting life, and try not to mistake the limits of your perception with the limits of the world.
